Russia, Social Media and Democracy

Original post made by Mary Enright, Another Mountain View Neighborhood, on Nov 5, 2017

We know what an act of war looks like. (Pearl Harbor)

We know what an act of treason looks like. (Benedict Arnold)

But what does an act of war or an act of treason look like in a cyber world?

Does a foreign state commit an act of war against the U.S. when it interferes in our elections for the purpose of destroying our democracy?

Does an American corporation commit an act of treason against the U.S. when it amasses vast amounts of personal data on voters and sells that data to a foreign state who uses it to destroy our democracy?

It is time for us to talk to one another about what is happening to our democracy.

I am a member of Indivisible South Bay (ISB), a local, grassroots citizen action group. We are talking about these issues .

We invite you to participate in our upcoming community forums focusing on this clear and present danger to our democracy.

The ISB website will post particulars, as presenters confirm. www.indivisiblesouthbay.org
