New study finds local airports are raising blood lead levels in children

Aircraft traffic around Reid-Hillview Airport in San Jose is contaminating the area with lead, causing a spike in blood lead levels, according to a new study that noted other area airports are also likely contaminating communities.

Here in Sarasota / Bradenton Florida, the airport got in the charter school business and is opening a school in a re-zoned industrial park, across the street from the runways. Ironically, it is called Team Success

Sad.

Regarding Moffett field - jet fuel does not contain lead. I don't think any piston driven aircraft use Moffett today.

@mikepat true that commercial jet fuel used in jets and larger helicopters are unleaded. Is that also true of military fuel? Since the military sets their own standards for jet fuel. Thank you.
