Teeth-clattering potholes get temporary fix after storms pitted already-damaged roads

On freeways, on-ramps, streets and overpasses, drivers have been dodging large potholes, deep fissures and mosaics of fractured asphalt caused by the recent atmospheric river winter storms.

Whenever I call them, the the folks at Caltrans seem obsessed with their generous pension and retirement plan. "Under most benefit formulas, members become fully vested with five years of service credit and the minimum retirement age is 50." Plus healthcare...
With benefits like that, is it any wonder there's not much money left to fix potholes?
