This is not good news for two reasons. One is that Sizzler is an inexpensive option for nearby residents and two is that Chik Fil A represents an openly oppressive view of diversity in our community.

Granted I haven't eaten there since 1985, but still. Sad to see it go.

I agree with those who ask for more info on whether Sizzler will be relocating in MV or just fading away. Although I'm not a huge fan of Sizzler, I've been there on a number of occasions with my mom who is able to take advantage of the senior menu there and it does seem to be an inexpensive option for many families, with some healthy choices available.

Did not know that about Chick-Fil-A, guess i won't be eating there again, only ate there once.

As a Mountain View resident I object to Chick-Fil-A putting one of their horrid chain stores in my neighborhood. My family and I will NOT be customers. Not only is the food really bad for you, their politics are really bad for America, in my opinion.

What ever happened to "tolerance?" Everyone (even corporation) is entitled to his belief. If you don't agree, then don't eat there. But, please let them come into Mountain View as it can provide a much needed tax revenue since Google is driving all the local restaurants out of business by offering free lunch and dinner.

Sizzler has been one of my favorite "nice" restaurants for years. I do not go out to eat much but really enjoy the variety of dishes available and the salad bar that had tons of fresh veggies and other healthy options. Who gave them permission to close?

So you want a law requiring a business to stay open even if no one eats there?

If you want it to stay, go eat there. If you don't like a restaurant (for food or politics), don't eat there. The most successful businesses will last and ultimately provide the most economic benefit.

Does no one remember their sojourn in Los Altos? Chick-Fil-A was where Ferari Brothers is now--on Main Street. They were not supported there and lasted no more than 6 months with no customers. Bad fast food will do them in before their bad policies. It would be nice th have a good, inexpensive restaurant there! I would love to see Daphne's Greek cafe. I've eaten at the La Jolla one several times and was impressed with the quality.

IN and OUT far better, they are paid more, they have health insurance. According to Wikipedia, bible verses were start in the 80 by Rich Snyder who was in charge until his death in a plane crash in 1993. The bible verses are discreet. Chick Fil A is a much different company, check it out. I still don't like their chicken, it taste bland, rather waster my money at In and Out.

Karen, stop and think about it......... isn't that what J.C. Penney is doing right now??? They're funding pro-gay campaigns and making sure people know about it! And I haven't looked up the 'hateful' political opinion you talked about, but even without doing so, I'm pretty sure they're basing their opinions on the Biblical morals that this country was founded on. And had that not happened, we may not be living in a FREE COUNTRY, with FREE SPEECH, and the freedom to hold our own opinions - publicly, as we are all doing on this comment board. I think their food tastes great. Others here obviously think it's crap. The great thing about our free market society is that they will risk their own capital to see who's right and who's wrong and us taxpayers won't have to bail them out like the car companies, banks etc. if they fail. So why the heck would we want to stop a new business from opening that will bring jobs, tax revenue and a chicken alternative to KFC to Mt. View? Their political beliefs are irrelevant as far as I'm concerned. While I don't agree with them, this issue is one that the country is split 50/50 on so it's not like reasonable minds can't disagree on the point.

I'd rather have a Crackerbarrel.

All this fussing about Chik-Fil-A donating a few million dollars to anti gay marriage efforts when we have Google making multi billion dollar deals with governments who do a lot worse than deny two men or women the right to marry.

I'm not saying I even care. Google can make deals with whatever dictators they like. I just think it's funny how we give Google one sweetheart deal after another to stay in Mountain View but get our undies in a bunch over a little old Chik-Fil-A store opening on El Camino.

The alternative to KFC in MV is the grocery store and my grill. For the cost of a single meal at KFC or CFA I can grill up about 6 breasts that can be used all week in different and delicious ways.
CFA and KFC are both fast foods, made with cheap mass produced, factory farmed chickens...a product optimized for profit, not nutrition. Saying CFA is an alternative to KFC is like saying Burger King is an alternative to McD's.

For those of you pining for good old Sizzler even though you have not been there in decades, try going there before they close. The food is terrible. I had the misfortune to sample their wares a couple of years ago.
Where can I start to list the garbage they sell? First the main attraction of their so-called salad bar is battered, deep fried glop and mayonnaise laden macaroni salad. The vegetables and fruit just sit their while people come back for thirds on the garbage. Their 'steak' is as tough as shoe leather. I literally had to chew each piece for about five minutes before I gave up and spit it out. The potato is swimming in margarine and the bread is white, Rainbo bread dipped in oil.

So it's cool that Chik-Fila is coming to town if the [Post removed due to disrespectful comment or offensive language] don't impose their will on the majority of us in California who support traditional marriage. If they can open, I will be there at the opening with bells on. Uh..maybe not. That does seem a bit gay doesn't it ;-)

If you plan on protesting just because they don't share your view, I will make it a point to come down and cross the line to express my support. I find that the allegedly "open-minded" folks are those who are most closed to opposing viewpoints. I hate having religion shoved down my throat but I'll still eat at In-N-Out because I like their food and their "message" is very discreet (some people reading this won't even know what I'm talking about).

If the food I find once I get inside Chick-fil-A is not good, I won't be back.

Their business will live or die on the merit of its food, not its politics. Which explains why Sizzler and its godawful food are vacating the premises. I'm only sorry to see an inexpensive option for seniors go away.

Doesn't anyone see the absurdity of asking those deemed "pro-gay" to be tolerant of those who do not tolerate them? How does that work exactly? Do as I say, not as I do? No thanks, nice try! If you don't like the way gay people live TOO BAD! You only get one life in this world, your own.

And small bible verses that are hard to find even when you're looking for them is not the same as giving money to the Family Research Council. Believing in God is not the same as judging strangers. Actually, it's the opposite.

And yet year after year we have two "art" fairs with toe ring booths, gutter installation companies, Comcast, multi level marketing Cutco Knives, junky "crafts" made of household junk, radio stations, and random booths that have nothing to do with wine, art, or Mountain View.

Obviously no one has noticed the Chik Fil A sign that has been on Sizzlers lawn for about 3 months now. Probably longer. Sounds like people here really "care" about Sizzler and are in tune with what is going on in the city.

I've got a similar news flash for the group. The food at "real" Mt. View stalwart restaurants like Chili's, Chef Chu's and Frankie, Johnny and Luigi's isn't much healthier. Maybe we should only let them open more Fresh Choice and sushi outposts (as long as they don't serve tempura). How about we all not try to dictate what our neighbors can eat, drink or smoke for a change?

Actually, I was addressing the early point that MV lacks an alternative to KFC. I know junk food does not fuel the best brain performance, but try to keep up with the threads before you go off on a tangent.
