A burglar reportedly kicked in the door of a home in the 2300 block of Jane Lane on May 17, according to police.

Sometime between 7 a.m. and 2 p.m. that day, someone reportedly kicked in a side door of the house, ransacked the place and made off with multiple watches, jewelry and an HP Pavilion computer, said Sgt. Sean Thompson, public information officer for the Mountain View Police Department.

Police have no suspects at this time, Thompson said.

  1. Would it be possible to add a tiny Google (or other) map to these crime stories to locate the block in which these incidents are reported? Unless it’s a street I already know, I look it up anyway to see how far away it is.

  2. Good suggestion, Mapaholic!

For those who are curious, this is in the Monta Loma neighborhood, near the southwest corner the Rengstorff/Middlefield intersection.

  3. Not sure if there just happen to be more bulglaries lately or just Nick Veronin is reporting on them (these stories seem to be his “beat”), but the trend seems to be Monday-Friday, around noon.

The burglars seem like they are watching for people who leave their houses and then quickly burglarize those houses. At this time of year, they can capitalize on people leaving windows slightly open because of the heat.
