I love Caltrain. I sure don't want it to go bankrupt and fail.
However, a regressive sales tax that hits lower income people harder than the affluent commuters on the train is the worst solution I can think of.
Raise fares or take it out of general fund.
No to more sales tax increases.

I've seen estimates that trains are running at 5% capacity.
Might as well be empty at that point. Why are we running (mostly) empty trains?
If this were a business they'd have to close.
I don't think you could raise the rates enough to pay for itself anyway.
Shut it down.. bring it back when we have a vaccine.
Hard choices aren't even here yet folks. "Do we need Caltrain?" is not a hard question.
