Stanford to cut striking nurses' pay, health care benefits

Stanford Health Care and Lucile Packard Children's Hospital administrators have announced they will cut off health insurance benefits to striking nurses and their families as well as pay.

According to the article...
"the hospitals reported that their joint operating surplus increased by $676 million in 2021"

$676M divided by 5,000 nurses = $135K per nurse. It seems the hospitals are more than able to meet the nurses' seemingly reasonable demands.

Until I tell you that $420mm of Stanford revenues were COVID grants that will dry up. So you’re left with $200mm on $6 billion of revenue which is not a big cushion when their costs go up 3-5% a year.
