A vehicle caught fire at the corner of Cuesta Drive and Springer Road in Mountain View on Tuesday afternoon, but the car’s owner escaped unharmed, according to the city’s fire department.
At 12:49 p.m. on Oct. 28, emergency dispatchers received a call reporting a car fire, Mountain View Fire Department spokesperson Robert Maitland told the Voice. The incident was first reported by the Palo Alto Daily Post.
The driver evacuated from the vehicle before firefighters arrived on scene at 12:53 p.m., where they found an active fire coming from the engine compartment.
“Firefighters initiated a fire attack to extinguish the flames,” Maitland wrote in an email. “The vehicle owner was located near the scene with no injuries.”
The Mountain View Police Department controlled traffic in the area for 20 minutes while fire units were in the area. Firefighters then turned the scene over to the police department. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, Maitland said.
