It may be competition for Tied House, maybe not.
Tied house brews their own beer and has what I call "exotic pub food" on the menu, like ostrich burgers and smoked salmon fish and chips.
This new beer garden sounds like it's more of a gourmet restaurant that serves distinctive beers, rather than a craft-beer pub that serves pub food.
Both have their place, although I think restaurants that place beer as a centerpiece eventually evolve into pubs that serve food, in which case they two establishments would then be competing on the same turf.

Garrett, you will be able to have a pub crawl with at least THREE neighboring beer gardens, once Steins opens.
SteakOut, 383 Castro at California, has operated one using its outdoor seating and European draft beers since 2011. Plans exist there to rename the restaurant soon, to emphasize the beer garden feature.

Hang on..... Fish and Chips? Another PUB, St Stephons Green, with a REAL Irish Landlord and wife serves up a pretty good Fish and Chips. Please add them to your Pub Crawl. No waiting Taxi though ;)

We don't need DUI checkpoints in downtown mountain view, how about if we have people that can enjoy the pubs, not drink to excess and WALK home? If you can't walk home then be responsible and call yourself a taxi. Lots of 'em parked at the train station. If you choose to drink and drive then we don't need you in downtown mountain view!
