UPDATE: The pedestrian who was struck by a car Thursday, Feb. 9, in Mountain View died of her injuries over the weekend, according to an announcement from police on Feb. 14.
Mountain View police are searching for the driver of a car that struck a pedestrian Thursday morning on eastbound El Camino Real between Clark and Escuela avenues, and then fled the scene.
At 7:09 a.m. on Feb. 9, the Mountain View Police Department posted on Twitter that the portion of eastbound El Camino Real was shut down from the collision, and that the injured pedestrian was transported to an area hospital for treatment.
Police first characterized the victim as an elderly woman, then described her in a press release Friday as a woman in her 50s, and had no updates on her injuries.
The driver involved in the collision drove away before first responders arrived. An extensive search was conducted Thursday by officers was unsuccessful.
Mountain View police are actively investigating and seeking the public’s help to locate the driver and car involved in the collision. The car is described as a mid- to late-2000s Nissan sedan with passenger side damage. There is no description of the driver.
Anyone who has any information, including footage of the car involved in the collision, is asked to contact Officer Greg Ienni at Greg.ienni@mountainview.gov.
