Jazz pianist/composer Carmen Staaf plays a pair of concerts in Palo Alto presented by local promoter Earthwise Productions. According to Earthwise’s event announcement, she will be exploring connections between compositions by Mary Lou Williams and Thelonious Monk.
Staaf will likely be joined by Ben Goldberg (clarinet) and Hamir Atwal (drums), and Dillon Vado (drums), although, the Earthwise posting states, the lineup is subject to change. Staaf has played at previous Earthwise events in addition to venues including Lincoln Center and the Kennedy Center and at jazz festivals around the world.
