A Mountain View man was arrested last week on suspicion of using force to rob a man of his wallet, cell phone and electric bike outside of Office Depot, according to the Mountain View Police Department.

Officers received a report of a robbery around 11:51 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 6, that had occurred near Office Depot at 910 El Monte Ave. The victim told police that he and the suspect had gotten into an argument before the victim rode away on his electric bike.

The suspect, a 31-year-old transient, allegedly followed the victim, pushed him off his bicycle and punched him four times in the head before stealing his belongings. Officers later located the suspect, who was identified by the victim and another witness, police said.

The suspect was arrested and booked into Santa Clara County main jail on suspicion of assault likely to cause great bodily injury, police said.

The suspect is being held on $80,000 bail with a court date scheduled for Nov. 12, according to county records.
