■ Theater: ‘Altar Boyz’

This Saturday (April 23) is opening night at 8 p.m. for Palo Alto Players’ production of “Altar Boyz,” a musical about a fictional Catholic boy band. ■ Books: ‘A Company of Authors’

A host of Stanford authors with newly published books will discuss and sign their works at a free event from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday (April 23) at the Stanford Humanities Center, 424 Santa Teresa St. The authors include Jack Rakove, Ian Morris, Herbert Lindenburger, Karen Wigen, Cynthia Haven, Susan Krieger and Charlotte Jacobs.
