Robbery, 223 Castro Street, 3/2
At 10:39 p.m., police responded to a possible fight at the rear entrance of Molly Magee’s. Upon arrival, they found an employee of Tsunami Sushi on the ground near the back of St. Stephen’s Green, suffering from a head injury.
According to reports, a man was going through a Dumpster in the back parking lot when the victim confronted him. The suspect, an Asian male in his mid-30s, hit the victim on the head and took his wallet before fleeing. The victim was taken to the local hospital. Police have not yet located the suspect, described as 5-foot-6 and about 140 pounds, with short black hair and wearing a beige raincoat and black pants.
Arson, 2650 W. El Camino Real, 3/4
At 9:44 p.m., a person inside a motel room at the San Antonio Inn called the front desk asking for police and fire assistance for a medical emergency. The police and fire department responded. Officers prepared to enter the man’s room, but before they did he started a small fire, extinguished it, then called the motel office to tell them he would start another fire if police entered his room.
Although police had not yet entered, the 50-year-old suspect started another small fire. Police forced entry and took the San Jose man into custody on charges of arson. There was minor damage to the room.
