The city of Mountain View is hosting a weekly summer outdoor movie series starting July 11 and running through mid-August at various parks around town.

Each Friday through Aug. 15, the city will show a different family-friendly movie under the stars. The movies will begin at 8:30 p.m. or dark, whichever is later.

The series will start with a showing of “Inside Out 2” this Friday evening at Cuesta Park, 615 Cuesta Drive. The rest of the schedule is as follow:

  • July 18: “Transformers One” at Sylvan Park, 500 Sylvan Ave.
  • July 25: “Despicable Me 4” at Stevenson Park, 750 San Pierre Way
  • Aug. 1: “Moana 2” at Whisman Park, 300 Easy St.
  • Aug. 8: “Paddington in Peru” at Eagle Park, 650 Franklin St.
  • Aug. 15: “The Wild Robot” at Rengstorff Park, 201 S. Rengstorff Ave.

At each showing, the first 50 kids to visit the information booth starting at 7:30 p.m. will receive a movie-themed giveaway pack. There will also be a free raffle for a “VIP movie experience,” with the winning family getting to watch the movie from comfy chairs, with popcorn, candy and drinks provided, according to the city.

For more information on the movie series, visit the city’s website.

  1. I wonder what movie night looks like if there are 12 pickleball courts next to to it in Cuesta Park, where that picture is taken.

Thankfully in Monta Loma….we have no more park space to give up for noisy sports.

  2. This is one of the best traditions that exists for families in Mountain View.

Love the idea of gift packs for the littles. Not so sure how I feel about a “VIP experience” for a “winning family”. Seems like a well-intentioned idea that will result in the vast majority of families (especially their children) feel like “losers”. Why introduce a level of competition like that, instead of just allowing EVERYONE to savor the feeling of joy from spending a lovely evening in the park? Simple pleasures.
