Each week, Embarcadero Media takes a look at home sales activity along the Midpeninsula in the communities of Atherton, East Palo Alto, Los Altos, Los Altos Hills, Menlo Park, Mountain View, Palo Alto, Portola Valley and Woodside. Home sales are provided by California Resource, a real estate information company that obtains the information from counties’ recorder’s offices. Information is recorded from deeds after the close of escrow and published within four to eight weeks. Here’s a look at home sales activity between June 9 to July 4 that was made public the week of July 28.
Of particular interest this week … An ultra-modern home in West Atherton designed by architect Stanley Saitowitz, Emeritus Professor of Architecture at UC Berkeley who SF Curbed has called “one of the most respected, polarizing and prolific designers in San Francsico,” sold for $31.8 million. The home’s unique design consists of two L-shaped concrete, glass and steel boxes that overlap one another, creating a giant courtyard flanked by two “floating” cantilevered rooms, each spanning 23 feet and featuring 13-foot, floor-to-ceiling walls of glass. The property includes a multiple car charging stations, a seven-hole putting green with a bunker, a movie theater, and pool and spa, according to the sales listing.
