Political economist, professor, former cabinet member and author Robert Reich shares his new book, “Coming Up Short: A Memoir of My America,” at a Sept. 24 event presented by Kepler’s Books, held at the Fox Theatre. Reich, who is also the author of “Saving Capitalism” and “The Common Good,” served as a labor secretary under President Bill Clinton and was an economic advisor to President Barack Obama.

His memoir chronicles his life in America as a member of the baby boom generation, through the Civil Rights movement, the Vietnam War, meeting notable figures such as Hillary Rodham Clinton, Bernie Sanders and Clarence Thomas, and ponders the legacy of his generation. Reich also offers ideas for how to reclaim a sense of community and democratic capitalism based on American ideals.

Sept. 24, 7 p.m., Fox Theatre, 2215 Broadway, Redwood City; price depends on ticket type; eventbrite.com.

Editor’s note: The headline of this post was updated to clarify that the event is presented by Kepler’s.
