Mother’s Day is just around the corner, and if you’re looking to dine out for the occasion, it’s time to make reservations.
Along the Peninsula, plenty of restaurants at various price points and cuisine types are offering special a la carte dishes, prix-fixe meals or brunch buffets for the occasion. From a curated picnic basket to a build-your-own flower arrangement, here are some options to celebrate mothers this weekend.
Mother’s Day reservations go quick, but here are the options available as of May 6 morning.
Mediterranean a la carte: Amoura

This South San Francisco Mediterranean restaurant is offering a special a la carte menu Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and bottomless mimosas for just $18. For those who prefer savory brunch, find cast-iron shakshuka or Mediterranean hash with a rotisserie leg of lamb, and for sweet options, expect baklava pancakes and muhalabia ($12-$24). Heartier options include filet mignon with a twice-baked potato or fresh halibut with pineapple salsa ($39).

Halal prix-fixe: Arya Steakhouse

The downtown Palo Alto halal steakhouse is offering a three-course prix-fixe menu for brunch and dinner ($99). Brunch appetizers include Persian breakfast, burrata or French toast, followed by choices such as the Arya wagyu burger, soltani or lamb rack shishlik and completed with chef’s special dessert. Kids can choose between the Arya burger and fries, chicken kabob or filet mignon plus dessert for $49.
Dinner has similar offerings, but the starter is a mazeh platter of borani bademjoon, falafel, calamari and sambosa.

Outdoor buffet: Dinah’s Poolside Restaurant

Located at Dinah’s Garden Hotel in Palo Alto, Dinah’s Poolside Restaurant is offering a special Mother’s Day brunch buffet Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The buffet is priced at $85 per person, with an optional $25 bottomless mimosa and bloody mary bar, and $40 for kids (children under 3 eat free.)
Included in the buffet is a carving station with smoked tri-tip, baked ham and slow-roasted New York strip steak. A variety of hot foods — including clam chowder and sourdough French toast — and cold foods, such as deviled eggs and artisan cheeses and breads, are available. Dessert options include cupcakes, tiramisu, assorted cheesecakes, chocolate mousse and more.

Italian tastings: Eataly

Celebrate Mother’s Day early on Friday at Eataly’s Mother’s Day Festa. This $65 ticketed event includes unlimited access to eight chef-curated tasting stations and seven beverage stations, a welcome glass of prosecco and craft stations from 6-8 p.m.
If you’re looking for a sit-down dinner, La Pizza & La Pasta will offer two specials: insalata con carciofi (baby artichoke salad) and spaghetti all’astice (spaghetti with lobster), as well as the Spritz in Fiore (a spritz made with Ramazzotti Rosato Aperitivo).
Terra will also offer the Spritz in Fiore as well as three specials: crudo di ricciola (hamachi crudo), linguine ai ricci (linguine with sea urchin) and pesce spada (seared swordfish).

Picnic and live music: House Family Vineyards
This Saratoga winery is offering a personalized picnic bag for $130 Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. Each bag includes a petite flower bouquet, wildflower seeds, freshly baked bread, artisan crackers, olive oil, cheeses and charcuterie. It also includes table goodies (a ceramic antipasti bowl, cheese knife, two logoed wine cups, two linen napkins, palm leaf plates and cutlery sets).
Attendees can enjoy acoustic music and a complimentary welcome splash of rosé for mothers. Wine is available by the glass, bottle or as a tasting flight.

Barbecue buffet: MacArthur Park Restaurant and Bar
MacArthur Park is offering a Mother’s Day brunch buffet Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The buffet is $85 for adults, $45 for children 6-12 years old (children 5 and under eat free.)
Expect a carving station with prime rib, honey-glazed prime pork loin and mesquite-grilled salmon; a seafood station with house-smoked salmon and shrimp cocktail; a salad station; an artisan cheese board; and house specialties such as barbecue baby back pork ribs and Mary’s organic barbecue chicken.
Breakfast specialties are available until 3 p.m., including eggs Benedict and blueberry pancakes.

Brunch without breaking the bank: Michaels Restaurant
Michaels, located at Shoreline Golf Links, is hosting a Mother’s Day brunch Sunday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. with live music and a complimentary glass of chardonnay.
The brunch includes charcuterie, pastries, crab cakes, quiche, spiral-sliced ham and more. It’s priced at $55 per adult and $25 per kid 5-12 years old. Kids 4 and under eat free.

Mid-priced buffet: Roger Bar & Restaurant

If you’re looking to sample a variety of dishes for a moderate price, Roger is offering a Mother’s Day buffet priced at $68 per adult and $30 per child. Hot offerings include apple-smoked bacon and smashed fingerling potatoes, while cold options include a parfait bar, assorted pastries and salads.
Desserts include macarons, profiteroles and more. Included in the adult price is your choice of one entree, such as croque monsieur bread pudding, ricotta blintz or smoked salmon tartine. Kids have their own buffet options, including mac and cheese, chicken tenders and mini pancakes.

Brunch classics and florals: Wild Onion Bistro & Bar

Located in Hotel Citrine, Wild Onion Bistro & Bar is hosting a Bloom & Bubbles Brunch for Mother’s Day. In addition to a special a la carte menu, the brunch includes a complimentary “Mom-osa” and build-your-own mini floral arrangement, where guests can select up to four stems to create a custom bouquet to take home.
The Mother’s Day menu includes appetizers such as buffalo cauliflower and poke nachos ($16-$22), entrees such as smoked salmon eggs Benedict and ube mochi pancakes ($20-$28) and desserts like tres leches cake and trio chocolate cake ($15). Rosé flights are also available.

Mediterranean prix-fixe: Zaytinya

Located at Stanford Shopping Center, Zaytinya is offering an $80 five-course prix-fixe menu for lunch and dinner. Each course has two to three options to choose from, and a separate five-course vegetarian menu is also available.
Begin with hommus or labneh before smoked beet salata or grape leaves domades, then taste crispy Brussels afelia or sauteed shrimp. The entree is sesame salmon or kofte kebab, and dessert is Turkish coffee chocolate cake or olive oil cake. The vegetarian menu includes dishes such as celebration rice, cauliflower tiganites or mushroom kapnista.
