As summer swings into high gear, Mountain View and other parts of the Bay Area are warming up, prompting the National Weather Service to issue a heat advisory for the weekend.
The heat advisory is expected to be in effect starting 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 8 and will last until 10 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 9, according to the National Weather Service.
To help community members cool off, Mountain View is publicizing three air-conditioned locations.
Police Services Fire Administration Building, 1000 Villa St. The lobby will be open to the public 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
Mountain View Community Center, 201 S. Rengstorff Ave. The lobby will be open to the public 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Sunday.
Mountain View Public Library, 585 Franklin St. The library will be open to the public 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.
The Mountain View Fire Department, in a press release, is also encouraging residents to keep hydrated, stay in air-conditioned buildings, limit outdoor activities during the hottest times of the day, avoid leaving children or pets in cars and be aware of pavement temperatures when walking dogs.
