Warmer temperatures and dry conditions are expected across the San Francisco Bay Area through Friday, raising fire weather concerns in higher elevations, particularly in the North Bay interior mountains, according to the National Weather Service.

Moderate offshore winds are expected, with the strongest winds projected for Thursday, increasing the risk of fires spreading quickly if a fire starts.

Temperatures will continue to rise through the end of the workweek, with the warmest conditions expected Friday. Inland areas could reach the mid-80s to mid-90s, while parts of the San Francisco Peninsula and Santa Cruz Mountains could see highs in the upper 80s to mid-90s.

The forecast led PG&E to notify more than 11,000 customers in the North and East Bay that they may have their power shut off between Wednesday evening and Saturday to avoid sparking wildfires.

The power outages, which PG&E calls Public Safety Power Shutoffs, are expected to affect about 70,000 customers in 29 counties across the utility’s service range. In the Bay Area, that includes an estimated 4,705 in Alameda County, 1,605 in Contra Costa County, 3,027 in Napa County, 30 in Solano County, and 1,783 in Sonoma County.

Meanwhile, a Coastal Flood Advisory remains in effect through 4 p.m. Wednesday for bayshore locations along San Pablo Bay. High tides could flood low-lying areas, cause isolated road closures and increase coastal erosion.
