A 20-year-old man was struck and killed by a Caltrain in Sunnyvale Sunday morning, March 29, according to Caltrain officials.
Train No. 426 was traveling south near Mary Avenue where it struck and killed a 20-year-old man around 11:40 a.m., Caltrain officials said.
Caltrain officials said a preliminary investigation indicates the collision was an intentional act.
There were approximately 100 passengers on board the train at the time of the incident, according to Caltrain officials. Officials said no one on board reported any injuries.
The involved train’s route was terminated at Mountain View and Caltrain officials said they were using a single track to go around the collision scene.
Trains were delayed approximately 20 to 30 minutes, and normal service resumed at about 3:15 p.m.
Officials from the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority said route 55 was being temporarily rerouted near the Sunnyvale Caltrain station.

It seems to me that these pedestrian collisions are suicides … sadly nothing else makes much sense to me.
@Maher: Well that is what “the collision was an intentional act” means.
