‘It’s The Great Holiday Show!’
LG Live RWC, the monthly concert series held at Little Green A Plant Bar, is celebrating the holidays “The Charlie Brown way,” the event listing states, offering local listeners another way to get a live dose of Vince Guaraldi’s beloved tunes, with arrangements by bandleader and bassist Andrew Lawrence. Little Green’s retail shop is open 30 minutes before and after concerts, BYOB is encouraged, and well-behaved pets are welcome.

‘Portraits of Los Altos’
Get a glimpse at depictions of early Los Altos community members with the new display “Portraits of Los Altos” at the Los Altos History Museum, with portraits in media including photography, painting and sculpture. Featured families include the Duvenecks, the Landels, the Brubakers, the Furuichis and the Smiths, according to the museum. The inspiration for the installation was the local artist ​​Anna Knapp Fitz, who painted and sculpted portraits of many local folks and whose work is included in the new display. “The display invites visitors to ‘meet’ the past residents and consider whether portraiture is still relevant today in documenting family history – even as the tools and techniques for capturing likenesses have evolved,” the museum website states.

Harpers Hall Christmas Concert
The Harpers Hall Ensemble is a Bay Area organization that celebrates folk harp traditions with various get-togethers throughout the year, including, during the holiday season, public performances at South Bay churches that also raise money for local charities. This year, hear popular Christmas music performed on Celtic harps, followed by time after the concert to get a hands-on, up-close experience with the harps – a chance to ask harpists questions and maybe even try a harp out. This year’s Christmas concert, held at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Palo Alto, is raising money for Second Harvest Food Bank.

Tim Lin Quartet
Fremont-raised saxophonist Tim Lin, who blends bebop traditions with a modern flair, is joined by Charles Chen on piano, Essiet Okon Essiet on bass and Joe Strasser on drums for two performances of original compositions and jazz standards, which Meyhouse Jazz describes as a night of “fiery swing, deep groove, and heartfelt expression.”

Tribute to ‘A Charlie Brown Christmas’
Vince Guaraldi’s iconic score for “A Charlie Brown Christmas” has remained popular over the decades, popping up at Peninsula (and beyond) performances each holiday season. Multi-instrumentalist, composer and bandleader Jason Crosby puts his own fresh spin on the classic Christmas music this year with his tribute at the Guild Theatre. According to the venue’s website, the all-ages-welcome performance “promises elegant arrangements, heartfelt expression, and the warm, festive spirit of the season.”

Oakland Interfaith Gospel Choir
Director Terrance Kelly leads the Oakland Interfaith Gospel Choir in its 17th annual South Bay holiday concert, offering Kelly’s gospel arrangements of traditional holiday songs, promoting a message of joy and unity through Black gospel and spiritual music. The Southbay Workshop Choir will also join the performance, opening the show with songs learned over the course of two sessions.
