About this blog: I am a language arts teacher at Crittenden Middle School and the facilitator of the CMS Panther Pen blog. I grew up in the Bay Area and I love it here. I went to school in Santa Clara, and studied literature and political science at SJSU. My teaching career began with a short stint with high schoolers in 2004, and I moved to my home at Crittenden in 2006. There are too many reasons to list here about why I love my job, but the most important one is that I love the students that I work with. When not talking about books and writing at school, I am home enjoying playtime with my two daughters and music teacher husband. This blog is a collaboration between the thoughtful and inspiring students, staff, and parents of Crittenden Middle School. We will be sharing this space with all of the stakeholders in our Panther community. I would like it to be a place where Crittenden Panthers of all ages can write about issues or ideas that are important to them - whether they be silly or serious - and have a response from the community that validates that they are here, they are heard, and they are valued for who they are.

Welcome to the 2013 School Year!
Uploaded: Aug 25, 2013
Come August 1st I start getting antsy. Itâ??s not that I donâ??t love and cherish my summer adventures with my family, or that I didnâ??t really need a few weeks of rest to recharge; I just really, really love my job and can't wait to get back to it. Iâ??ve even been known to skip on the first day of school. All summer I thought about the exciting new things Iâ??m going to try, and how I can make this year even better than last. Iâ??ve planned audacious projects for my Exploratory English elective (thank you, Google 20% project!), worked with my amazing 7th grade ELA partner to integrate Common Core into units, and dreamed up a thousand new ideas for how to make good lessons great. Iâ??m psyched to be back at work, with people I love, in a school that feels like home. Iâ??m already in love with my classes, and canâ??t wait to get all of my ideas for the new school year underway.
As the year moves on, look for student writing in this space. We will be writing about all manner of topics, and while Iâ??m never sure what craziness my students will turn in, I can always be sure that their writing reflects who they are and the values that they hold dear. We canâ??t wait to see what you have to say, and look forward to engaging in dialogue with our Mountain View community.
Welcome back, itâ??s going to be a great year!
Cheers, Ms. Brandy Jenson
Community.
What is it worth to you?
