Starbucks has shut down two Mountain View locations as part of the mass closure of hundreds of coffee shops across the country, which the company announced last week.
The Starbucks stores at 1380 Pear Ave. and 2410 Charleston Road in Mountain View were both shut down with the windows covered in paper when a reporter stopped by on Wednesday.
A note was posted at the Charleston Road location, announcing that the coffee house was permanently closed, effective Sept. 27.
“It has been a great pleasure to connect with you every day,” the note read. “We are very thankful to have played a role in your daily routine and that you have shared these moments of your life with us.”

The Seattle-based coffee company announced on Thursday, Sept. 25, that it would close stores across the country where it was “unable to create the physical environment our customers and partners expect” or which weren’t performing well financially, according to a press release from CEO Brian Niccol.
The Voice reached out to Starbucks to confirm the Mountain View store closures but did not hear back before deadline.
Starbucks has not released an official list of all the stores it has shut down, but community members and former employees have been using a public Google Sheet to track store closures.
Other Peninsula Starbucks stores shut down as well this weekend, including the landmark Courthouse Square location in Redwood City. Patrons gathered around the door on Friday, reading the closure notice.
A number of Starbucks locations in Mountain View remain open for business. As of Oct. 1, the company’s store locator map showed the following locations as available options:
- 750 Castro St.
- 1037-C El Monte Ave.
- 570 N. Shoreline Blvd.
- 175 E. El Camino Real
- 1750 Miramonte Ave.
- 580 N. Rengstorff Ave.
- 645 San Antonio Road
