Mountain View’s citywide garage sale won’t be held at the usual time this spring, with city officials tentatively planning to move the event to September.
The long-running annual tradition is typically held the first weekend in May. Households throughout Mountain View sign up to host sales concurrently, with the city compiling a map of all the locations.
After last year’s event, the city conducted a survey and heard that rainy weather had impacted turnout and sales, city spokesperson Lenka Wright told the Voice. Some requested the garage sale be held on a different date, she said.
The city decided to follow that advice and postpone 2024’s garage sale. Once the new date is confirmed, the city will update its website, Wright said. Currently, it is listed as “TBD” online.
After this year’s sale, the city plans to conduct another survey to determine which time participants prefer, Wright said.
