As Christmas and New Year’s Day approach, a number of public services will be closed or operating on a limited basis on Thursday, Dec. 25, and Thursday, Jan. 1, as well as days before and between the holidays.
Read on for details about what will be affected in Mountain View.
City services
City of Mountain View: City Hall and most city facilities will be closed Dec. 25 through Jan. 1. Some community services closed or began operating on reduced hours starting Monday, Dec. 22. Emergency services will continue to operate. For more information, visit mountainview.gov.
Mountain View Library: The library will be closed Dec. 25, Dec. 26, Dec. 31 and Jan. 1. The library also will have reduced hours Dec. 24 as well as on Dec. 29-30. For more information about the closure and reduced hours, visit library.mountainview.gov.
Garbage pick up: There will be no trash or recycling collection on Dec. 25 or Jan. 1. If your regular collection day is Thursday, it will occur on Friday. Those with a Friday collection day will get service on Saturday.
Transportation
Caltrain: Caltrain will operate on a modified schedule on Dec. 24 and a weekend schedule on Dec. 25 and Jan. 1. For more information and to see the modified schedules, visit caltrain.com.
SamTrans: SamTrans will operate on a Sunday schedule on Dec. 25 and Jan. 1. For more information, visit samtrans.com.
Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority: VTA will use a Sunday/holiday schedule on Dec. 25 and Jan. 1. For more information, visit vta.org.
Federal, state offices
U.S. Postal Service: Post offices will be closed on Dec. 25 and Jan. 1 for retail transactions and there will not be residential or business deliveries on those days, except for priority mail express. For more information, visit usps.com/holiday.
Schools
Mountain View Whisman School District, Mountain View Los Altos High School District: Mountain View’s public schools are closed for winter break Dec. 22 through Jan. 4. Teachers will return on Monday, Jan. 5, and students will resume classes on Tuesday, Jan. 6.
