Alex Levich and Vadim Katz are in the lead to win two open seats on the Mountain View Los Altos High School District’s board of trustees, initial election results show.
Levich, Katz and Li Zhang are running to fill a pair of seats on the high school district’s five member board. The winners will replace Phil Faillace and Sanjay Dave, who opted not to run for reelection.
As of the results released at 4:48 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 7, Levich got 35.73% (16,213 votes), Katz received 33.13% (15,031 votes) and Zhang was in third with 31.14% (14,131 votes).
Levich told the Voice on election night that she was running against two great candidates, and that it was hard to know what the final result would be.
“Certainly, I’m honored by the trust of the community – I see that I’m ahead a little bit,” Levich said. “That said, I feel like it’s very early to say anything definitive. “
The high school district’s board oversees the roughly 4,400 student district, which is primarily made up of Mountain View and Los Altos high schools. The district also operates Alta Vista High, an alternative school, the MVLA Adult School and several other alternative programs.
The new board members will join Thida Cornes, Esmeralda Ortiz and Catherine Vonnegut on the board.
