A fire broke out at a vacant office building in Mountain View Thursday afternoon, resulting in roughly $50,000 in damage but no reported injuries, according to the Mountain View Fire Department.

Dispatchers received a call at 4:45 p.m. on April 2, reporting that smoke and flames were coming from a single-story commercial building on the 200 block of South Drive, according to a fire department press release. When firefighters arrived, they saw an exterior fire and quickly extinguished the flames, preventing it from spreading into the office and an adjacent building.
Fire officials have determined that the fire originated from a storage box. The cause is still under investigation. The Mountain View Police Department provided traffic control for 90 minutes while fire crews worked, the press release said.
