A 75-year-old man died last week after being involved in a single-car crash on Foothill Expressway in Los Altos.
At around 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 28, Los Altos police responded to a report of a collision near the Foothill Expressway and Grant Road intersection. When officers arrived, they located a crashed, gray 2024 Volkswagen Jetta with the driver inside, according to a social media post from the Los Altos Police Department on Tuesday.
The driver was transported by ambulance to Stanford Hospital after police officers and paramedics attempted life-saving measures on scene. He was later pronounced dead at the hospital, according to police.
The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner Office has identified the driver as Daniel Walsh, a Los Altos resident. The cause of death is still pending, the medical examiner said.
According to a preliminary police investigation, Walsh was traveling westbound in his vehicle on Foothill Expressway, towards Loyola Corners, when he veered into the center median and struck a large tree.
Police are asking for witnesses of the collision to contact traffic investigator Kevin Vitorelo at 650-947-2695.
