Floating through on the consent calendar with no discussion Tuesday was the purchase of two lots on Del Medio Avenue for a mini-park.
In its quest to serve another northern neighborhood that lacks park space, the city has become the landlord of six homes at 380 and 390 Del Medio Ave. City officials say there is no immediate need to relocate the tenants because no funds are available yet to build the park.
At the single-family home at 390 Del Medio Ave., the former owner was given $750,000 and will be allowed to stay there indefinitely for free. At 380 Del Medio Ave., five households will pay their current rents.
The city purchased the property, near California Street and San Antonio Road, for just over $2 million, using park in lieu fees and park land dedication funds.
