Some of my favorite memories are intrinsically tied to summer – end of the school year barbecues at Coyote Point, Thrifty Ice Cream scoops, Shoreline concerts and trips to the county fair and Great America. Talking to my niece about her school’s field trip to the California Academy of Sciences this week reminded me of how infinitely exciting the start of summer was as a kid. No homework! A later bedtime! Ample time to read and play and hang out with my friends!

While we may have more responsibilities, who’s to say we can’t channel that same energy as adults? With so many fun happenings starting this weekend, we’ve prepared a guide to June to jump-start your summer calendar, and Heather Zimmerman has an events roundup for Pride Month.

What’s the most quintessential way to spend a summer day in the 650? What would you like to see in The Six Fifty this summer? Let’s KIT (keep in touch for those who have forgotten yearbook signature lingo).

Cannonball!
