In the weeks leading up to Super Tuesday on March 3, the Voice has published endorsements on several local measures and the state Senate District 13 race. Here is a list of our editorial board’s recommendations. Read the editorials and election news coverage in our online Voter Guide at https://tinyurl.com/mv-voter-guide.

Measure D

Vote no on Measure D, which would amend the city’s Community Stabilization and Fair Rent Act (CSFRA) to allow landlords to increase monthly rent on tenants by 4% each year regardless of the Consumer Price Index. It would also compel the city’s Rental Housing Committee to create a special list of capital improvements that landlords can quickly and easily pass through to tenants as “temporary rent increases;” and exclude mobile home residents from renter protections. Measure T

Vote yes on Measure T, a Mountain View Whisman School District $259 million bond initiative that would cost property owners $30 per $100,000 of assessed value and fund school site improvements, short-term growth, teacher and staff housing, and debt repayment. (See editorial, Feb. 28)

Measures G and H

Vote yes on these initiatives from the Foothill-De Anza Community College District. The $898 million Measure G would cost property owners approximately 1.6 cents per $100 of assessed property value for the next 34 years. Measure H, a $48 parcel tax, would provide the two community colleges with approximately $5.6 million annually over five years. (See editorial, Feb. 21)
