A 73-year-old Mountain View man was fatally struck by a vehicle early Wednesday morning, according to a statement from the Mountain View Police Department.
Officers responded to a call around 5:30 a.m. on April 9, reporting a vehicle and pedestrian collision at the intersection of El Camino Real and Escuela Avenue, police said.
The pedestrian received medical treatment from officers and the Mountain View Fire Department but did not survive the collision and died at the scene, according to the statement.
The driver involved in the collision is cooperating with the police investigation, and drugs and alcohol do not appear to be a factor. The cause of the collision is unknown and the investigation is ongoing, police said.
The pedestrian has not yet been publicly identified by the Santa Clara County Medical-Examiner Coroner’s Office.
In the last 90 days, there have been two other traffic fatalities in Mountain View, according to the Mountain View Police Department transparency dashboard. The dashboard shows that one fatality involved a vehicle and pedestrian collision this year.
