Police arrested a 53-year-old Redwood City woman after she allegedly stole clothes from a Kohl’s store, pepper-sprayed store security and tried to flee in her vehicle.
Proversa Marie Ardoin allegedly tried to take about $250 in clothing from the store on Wednesday, Dec. 16, just after 3 p.m. When Ardoin was confronted by store security, she pepper-sprayed one of the officers and tried to drive away, according to police spokeswoman Leslie Hardie.
Ardoin allegedly drove around vehicles and over curbs, and ignored a stop sign before she was stopped a short distance away from the store. She was arrested on charges of robbery and reckless driving, and booked into Santa Clara County Main Jail.
She should also have been charged with “assault with a deadly weapon”.
