Electronics, jewelry and money were stolen from a home in the 1500 block of Tyler Park Way on Dec. 8, police said.

The residents of the home, a 41-year-old man and a 36-year-old woman, were out out during the day and returned to find that their home had been ransacked, according to Shino Tanaka, public information officer with the Mountain View Police Department.

The victims called the police and waited until officers arrived to clear the house before entering. “The residents did the right thing,” Tanaka said. “Never put yourself at risk by going into your home if it’s clear (an intruder) has been inside.”

A television, jewelry, foreign currency, a laptop and an iPad were stolen, Tanaka said. It’s believed that the burglar, or burglars, broke into the home through a rear garage window.
