MVWSD launches public records webpage

The Mountain View Whisman School District has launched a webpage where it plans to put the documents it releases in response to public records requests.

The new webpage comes in the wake of the district’s recent disclosure of credit card statements and reimbursement records for former Superintendent Ayindé Rudolph that have raised substantial community outcry.

The spending documents, which the district released in response to a public records request, detail tens of thousands of dollars in spending at luxury hotels, four-digit airline purchases and other pricy transactions. The district has said it is launching an investigation into the spending. Rudolph has denied wrongdoing.

The new records webpage currently features expense documents for Rudolph from the first half of this year. District spokesperson Shelly Hausman told the Voice that the district plans to continue to update the page.

The school district, like other public agencies, is subject to the California Public Records Act, which requires the disclosure of government documents upon the request of a member of the public. There are certain conditions under which a document would be exempt.

The public records webpage is available on the district’s website

Mountain View High School’s 15th annual Spartan Turkey Trot is scheduled to return this year, taking place on Thanksgiving morning.

The yearly tradition is hosted by the MVHS Sports Boosters and includes a 5K run and walk, Spartan Mile and kids races. The money raised benefits the high school’s athletics department, supporting teams and clubs on campus.

The races are held on campus and in the neighborhood surrounding the school. Pets are not allowed.

Adult registration is $50, with children costing $35. Additional processing fees are applied by the online sign-up website. Same day registration will be $50 for all age groups, if there are spots available. The kids fun runs are free, though participants can pay to get a t-shirt.

Ernie’s model trains to run again in Monta Loma neighborhood

Once again this year, a Monta Loma resident will run his father’s model trains for the public to view outside his home on Adele Avenue.

John Bianco plans to run his late father Ernie’s trains on five tracks from Thanksgiving through Christmas. Weather permitting, Bianco will operate the trains from roughly 6:30-9 p.m. every day of the week except Mondays at 2387 Adele Ave.

The neighborhood tradition dates back decades and brings visitors of all ages to see the trains running in Bianco’s front yard.

Correction: This article was updated with the correct hours that John Bianco plans to run his father’s model trains. The Voice regrets the error.
