Event: Mountain View International Day of Peace
The City of Mountain View will celebrate its second annual International Day of Peace on Saturday, Sept. 17, 10:30 a.m.-noon at Mountain View Civic Center Plaza, 500 Castro St. There will be live performances, interfaith prayers and readings, as well as arts and crafts. Free.
Community event: A Taste of Palo Alto
A Taste of Palo Alto food festival, featuring food from 15 local restaurants, will be held Saturday, Sept. 17, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in downtown Palo Alto. Tickets are $25 for adults; $15 for kids. The festival is being held in conjunction with the Echelon Gran Fondo bike challenges.
Talk: ‘Plutonomy: Economy (and Government) Of, By and For the Rich’
Paul George of Peninsula Peace & Justice Center will examine how the concentration of wealth and power came to be, what it means for a supposedly democratic society and some possible solutions Sunday, Sept. 18, at 11 a.m. at Palo Alto High School – Student Center, 50 Embarcadero Road, Palo Alto.
