Summer always gets a bright and festive kickoff with LGBTQIA+ Pride Month. Communities on the Peninsula and beyond are marking the month in a variety of ways, with everything from crafts, storytimes and talks to parades, festivals and flag-raisings. Here’s a sampling of how the Peninsula is celebrating Pride:
Palo Alto Libraries

The library hosts events that include family storytime (Rinconada Library, June 3; Mitchell Park Library, June 7; Downtown Library, June 13); little ones storytime (Rinconada, June 11); a Spanish-language little ones storytime (College Terrace Library, June 12); and the YA Reads Book Club this month will read and discuss “We Are Okay” by Bay Area-raised author Nina LaCour (Rinconada, June 26).
San Mateo County Libraries

Coast Pride Events

A month of Pride events taking place Coastside kick off with Pescadero’s Pride Parade on May 31, 1:30-3 p.m. Pacifica holds a car-decorating party June 6, 5-8 p.m., ahead of its Pride Parade on June 7, 11 a.m. The parade will be followed by a festival with music and food. Half Moon Bay holds a flag unveiling ceremony at city hall, with queer music, poetry and crafts on June 5, 5:30-7 p.m. with a Pride Parade taking place later in the month, on June 22, 11 a.m., followed by a festival with live performances, activities and more. The month wraps up with two awareness and inclusion trainings for allies and advocates, June 24 at Half Moon Bay Library and June 26 at Pacifica Sharp Park.
Daly City Progress Pride Flag Raising

Daly City marks Pride month with the raising of the Progress Pride flag.
Cupertino Flag Raising

The city of Cupertino hosts an event to raise the Pride flag.
Belmont Pride flag raising

The city of Belmont will raise the Pride flag in a community ceremony.
Redwood City Progress Pride Flag Raising
June 4, 6 p.m., at Courthouse Square, 2200 Broadway St., Redwood City. redwoodcity.org.
Redwood City hosts a Progress Pride flag-raising and proclamation ceremony, with guest speaker Yoselin Zavala Lopez of Adolescent Counseling Services, as well as remarks from city officials.

Family Pride Day at the fair

Mountain View Pride

The city of Mountain View hosts its first Pride celebration, which will feature a community art project, a history walk, community booth and a family fun zone with inflatable slides, a photo booth with instant prints, button-making, a mini-carnival, DJ music and roaming entertainment and a visit with the bookmobile.

Palo Alto’s Queer Legacy: From Archives to Action

Aleo Landeta (Palo Alto’s King Artist-in-Residence), Ken Yeager (the first openly gay Santa Clara County official) and Santa Clara County LGBTQ Affairs Manager Sera Fernando discuss challenges the LGBTQ+ community faces in Santa Clara County and how the Queer Silicon Valley Archive can serve as a blueprint for taking on today’s challenges by understanding historical resilience and strategies for progress.
Pride Outside 2025

Branching Out Adventures hosts events for the queer community to enjoy spending time outdoors, including a sunset hike at Russian Ridge on June 13 and a June 14 volunteer restoration project with Grassroots Ecology at Bear Creek Redwoods. Other events include queer yoga and a bonfire held on June 14 at Santa Cruz County beaches.
San Mateo County Pride
June 14. Parade begins at 10:30 a.m. at 2nd and B streets, San Mateo. Celebration begins at 11 a.m. at San Mateo Central Park, 50 E 5th Ave., San Mateo; free admission; no alcohol will be served. smcpridecelebration.com.
Events kick off with a parade through downtown San Mateo, followed by a celebration at San Mateo Central Park with live entertainment and DJs, resource and vendor booths, food trucks and family-friendly activities.

Pride Weekend at Filoli
House Party is June 13, 6-10 p.m., and admission is $55; Pride weekend June 14, 10 a.m.-8 p.m., and June 15, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.; Pride Weekend events free with Filoli admission ($29-$39). All events take place at Filoli, 86 Cañada Road, Woodside. filoli.org/visit/pride.
The weekend kicks off with a Pride House Party on June 13 featuring a variety of performances, including drag and burlesque artists, DJs and contortionists; then, a weekend of family-friendly events includes hands-on art, sound baths, dancing to live performances, flower crown-making workshops ($20 additional); booths from local LGBTQIA+ community organizations; drag queen storytime and drag bingo.
Pride and Pizza Shabbat

The Jewish Baby Network hosts an event for young families with a pizza dinner, playtime, puppets, singing and dancing.
Oasis Makers Fair: Pride Edition
June 21, 2-6 p.m., at TETRA Hotel, 400 W. Java Drive, Sunnyvale; eventbrite.com.
TETRA Hotel’s Oasis Makers Fair: Pride Edition features more than 25 makers and small businesses, many of which are LGBTQIA+-owned and operated, a special performance by the Bay Area’s premier drag troupe the Rice Rockettes and raffles throughout the afternoon with proceeds benefitting the Rainbow Chamber of Silicon Valley. The event is free to attend with RSVPs recommended. The hotel’s Nokori bar, a Japanese whisky bar, will also have a signature Pride cocktail available throughout the month of June and during the June 21 fair.
