A six-month-long construction project is underway at Kaiser Permanente’s downtown Mountain View facility.

Construction began last month at Kaiser’s Mountain View Medical Office Building, which is located across the street from City Hall, and is expected to be completed in December, according to Antonia Ehlers, a Kaiser Permanente spokesperson.

The project is focused on maintenance work, including some roof repairs, patching and painting the building’s exterior, and upgrading accessibility at entrances.

Construction will not impact patient care, but building entrances and parking may be limited at times depending on where construction is occurring, Ehlers said in an email.

The project contractor has created modified pathways around the construction activity and is managing traffic so that staff and visitors can enter the building and parking structure, according to a recent city newsletter.

Construction hours are 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday, the city said.

The Medical Office Building, 555 Castro St., opened in 1991 and includes primary care services, pediatrics, optometry, obstetrics and gynecology, dermatology, psychiatry, a pharmacy and a laboratory. The location does not include an emergency room or urgent care.
