The Mountain View Police Department is investigating a robbery that happened last week on Stevens Creek Trail, where a man wielding a knife and wearing a black face covering allegedly approached someone walking along the path, stealing cash, a watch and a cell phone.
The incident happened at approximately 5 p.m. on June 11, near Sleeper Avenue. The suspect did not use the knife on the 66-year-old male victim, but during the encounter, the victim fell backward and scraped his elbow, according to Elizabeth Mendez, an analyst with the police department.
The man who was robbed reported the incident, and police arrived on scene to meet with him. The total estimated value of the items stolen is $1,060, Mendez said.
Officers searched the area for the suspect, who was described as a Hispanic adult male with a medium build, standing at about 5-foot-7-inches and wearing a black facemask, white T-shirt and black pants, but did not locate him.
The crime remains under active investigation, Mendez said. Anyone with information related to the incident is asked to contact the Mountain View Police Department through its non-emergency line at 650-903-6344.
