Arthur Lea
Musician Arthur Lea spent 20 years gigging in his old hometown of London, playing at such notable venues as Ronnie Scott’s and even the Olympic Stadium. A Royal Academy pianist, he sings jazz, rhythm ‘n’ blues, pop classics and originals, performing solo and in groups including Bootleg Trio, The Coalminers and Tongue Fu. Now based in the Bay Area, Lea performs at Little Green A Plant Bar this week.

The Sound of Unity Featuring Amir Etemadzadeh
Musicians Ashkan Ghafouri, Aryan Rahmanian, Amir Etemadzadeh and Raman Osman perform a concert of Middle Eastern music drawn from Persian, Kurdish and Sufi traditions, along with a Sufi dance performance. The concert, which takes place at First Presbyterian Church of Palo Alto, is described as “a celebration of unity, music, and spirit,” and “a journey through the spiritual heart of the region.”

‘Ada and the Engine’
For its latest production, The Pear Theatre takes on “Ada and the Engine,” popular playwright Lauren Gunderson’s drama about Ada Lovelace, a pioneer in math and early computing, directed by Miller Liberatore. Set in England at the dawn of the Industrial Revolution, the play follows Lovelace, the daughter of the notorious Lord Byron, who sees the amazing potential in the “analytic engines” invented by her friend Charles Babbage. The story is “Jane Austen meets Steve Jobs in this poignant pre-tech romance heralding the computer age,” according to The Pear.

‘The Four Seasons’
HaoExpression Dance Company presents its inaugural performance of “The Four Seasons,” with choreography by Company Interim Artistic Director Augusto Silva and music by Antonio Vivaldi, and the HaoExpression Adult Ballet Studio presents excerpts from “The Nutcracker,” “Giselle,” “Diana and Actaeon” and more, with staging by Silva, Nicole Khoo, Dawn Sue and Tian Tan.
