New Year’s Eve: Ballroom-dancing party
Palo Alto’s Cubberley Community Center Pavilion Friday, Dec. 31, hosts a New Year’s Eve ballroom-dancing party at 4000 Middlefield Road. Waltz lessons, a midnight toast and dance demos will be part of the evening. Admission is $20.
New Year’s Day: San Francisco Chamber Orchestra
At 3 p.m. New Year’s Day, the San Francisco Chamber Orchestra gives a free concert at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 600 Colorado Ave., Palo Alto. Seventeen-year-old cellist Nathan Chan will solo in Tchaikovsky’s Rococo Variations for Cello and Orchestra.
