Geri Spieler
Peninsula-based writer Geri Spieler shares her latest novel, “Revenge of the Sisters,” in a discussion at the Rinconada Library led by fellow author Joan Galfand. The book is a followup to her 2024 novel “Regina of Warsaw,” inspired by Spieler’s grandmother, who moved from Poland to the United States not long after the turn of the 20th century and struggled financially to raise four children on her own. “Revenge of the Sisters” is based on the stories of three of those children — Spieler’s aunts — and tells of how, after they came to be placed in an orphanage until graduation, they each made their way in life, pursuing challenging careers while facing anti-Semitism. Spieler is an investigative journalist who has written for the San Francisco Chronicle, the Los Angeles Times, Huffington Post, Westways and Forbes. Her other novels include “Housewife Assassin: The Woman Who Tried to Kill President Ford” and “San Francisco Values.”

Aug. 21, 6:30-7:45 p.m. at the Rinconada Library, 1213 Newell Road, Palo Alto; free admission; paloalto.bibliocommons.com.
