This came across the desk today and caught my eye. A free week-long bartending school will be held onsite at Graton Resort in Rohnert Park. It runs September 23 – 27. If you are interested in a new career, or know someone who is, this could be a right step at the right time.

For those mixing it up at home, here’s a seasonal cocktail or mocktail – you choose. Cut the carbos in the DIY fruit puree by combining white sugar with Monk fruit or another carbohydrate-free sweetener.
Farmers Market Fizz with Less Sugar

Makes two drinks (with extra puree)
4 mint sprigs
2 shots vodka, gin or rum (optional)
2 tablespoons Farmers Market Fruit Puree
2 tablespoons freshly squeezed lemon juice
Soda water
Ice
Muddle mint springs into a cocktail shaker with a wooden spoon or stick. Add alcohol, puree, lemon juice and ice. Shake well. Pour into glass with ice. Top with soda. Garnish with slice of fruit used in puree, lemon, and/or mint sprig.
Farmers Market Fruit Puree
½ cup summer fruit, cut small (try strawberry, peach, cherry, nectarine, plum…)
1/3 cup sweet (I use 2 tablespoons carbohydrate-free swerve or monkfruit plus 1 tablespoon white sugar)
¼ cup water
In a small pan, combine ingredients and bring to a low boil. Turn heat to low and simmer for 10 minutes. Make sure to keep the temperature down at a slow bubble. Remove from heat and mash pulp well with a fork. Blend in a mini food processor. Cool.
