Enrollment is open for next school year in Mountain View

Enrollment is open for next school year in the Mountain View Whisman School District. 

The district is asking parents of current students to confirm their child’s enrollment by Feb. 9, which can be completed online at mvwsd.org/register.

Parents of new students are also asked to register on the same website by Feb. 9. The site includes a description of the registration process, instructions to determine a family’s assigned school based on address and information about applying for the district’s two choice schools.

Free tax prep help available at library

Free tax preparation help will be available at the Mountain View Public Library on Tuesdays and Saturdays from Feb. 3 through April 13 for families who earned $64,000 or less in 2023.

IRS-certified volunteers will be available to help with tax returns. No appointments are required and walk-ins will be taken until 1:30 p.m. or when the event reaches capacity.

Participants are asked to bring the social security card or individual taxpayer identification number (ITIN) for each person on their tax return. To see a full list of documents to bring, visit the library’s website.

City to host Feb. 10 Lunar New Year celebration

The city of Mountain View is scheduled to host a Lunar New Year celebration from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 10, at the Mountain View Community Center, 201 S. Rengstorff Ave.

The event will include live performances, community booths, crafts and games, as well as food trucks. The Mountain View Voice will have a booth at the event.
