Mountain View teen center to host open house

The Mountain View teen center is planning to host an open house on Saturday, May 10, so local teens can explore the facility and get a preview of summer programs.

The teen center is a free resource for all sixth through 12th grade students in Mountain View and Los Altos. Rising sixth graders are eligible to start using the facility on June 5 and are invited to come to the open house. 

The open house is scheduled to run from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday. The teen center is located at 263 Escuela Ave.

Mountain View to host summer kick-off celebration

The city of Mountain View is hosting a Summer Community Kick-Off event later this month at Rengstorff Park, with activities, food and community booths.

The celebration will include arts and crafts, balloon animals, a raffle, a performance from El Grito de la Cultura Academy, ice cream and tacos, according to the city’s website.

The city’s rent stabilization division and the mental health provider Pacific Clinics are teaming up to organize the event. There are expected to be booths hosted by a variety of community service providers, including organizations offering legal services, housing and mental health support.

The event is scheduled to take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 17, at Rengstorff Park’s barbecue area.

Mountain View library prepares for summer reading program

The Mountain View library’s summer reading program is scheduled to begin on June 1.

The annual program is open to children, teens and adults. There are rewards available, which vary depending on age group. 

Children can earn a free book of their choice, while teens can earn a gift certificate to the library’s lobby shop and adults can enter a gift card drawing. All ages get a free book from the Friends of the Mountain View Library used book sale.


The summer reading program will run from June 1 through July 31. Participants can sign up online.
