Just one week after its opening, CardVault by Tom Brady has been burglarized by one or more intruders who smashed the store’s window and made off with about 60 trading cards, according to Palo Alto police.
The store at Town & Country Village, which hosted its grand opening on Aug. 15, was burglarized at about 12:30 a.m. on Saturday. Police said the unidentified suspect or suspects entered the store by smashing the window and smashing several display cases. The trading cars that were taken are valued at over $12,000, according to the place.
The suspects remained at large as of Monday morning, police said.
The store at 855 El Camino Real opened to great fanfare, with throngs of sports fans lining up outside the store and Brady himself making an appearance to greet visitors and join business owners and city officials in cutting the ribbon.
It specializes in trading cards and sports collectibles and features a “vault” with autographed memorabilia.
The location in Palo Alto is CardVault’s 17th location. It has two others in California, one in Sacramento and another in San Francisco.
