Local residents who died recently include:
Kuniko Ikemori Okamoto, 94, of Palo Alto, who was a secretary-bookkeeper, a speech therapist and eventually fulfilled her childhood dream of opening and managing an ice cream and candy store, which was visited by Julia Child, died on April 26, 2026.
Elizabeth Cowell, 89, of Palo Alto, who was an active player at the Palo Alto Bridge Club and became a Bridge Life Master and a Bronze Life Master, and who loved to travel and was an early visitor to the People’s Republic of China in the 1980s. She died on May 29, 2026.
Stacey Burkholder, 48, of Palo Alto, died on June 22, 2026, after a battle with cancer.
