A fried chicken wing restaurant promising “shatter-crisp wings” is coming to the former space of La Salsa at the corner of San Antonio Road and El Camino Real in Mountain View.
Wing So Good will offer “fried chicken wing flavors from Cambodia, China, Japan, Korea, Laos, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam,” according to its website. The company recently filed for a Type 41 liquor license, which allows restaurants to sell beer and wine but not hard liquor.
The new restaurant is located within a shopping plaza that has seen significant turnover in recent years. Uyghur restaurant Kusan Bazaar replaced Jersey Mike’s Subs last year, Matcha Mori opened last month replacing short-lived malatang restaurant MiPot (previously Cold Stone Creamery for many years), and the Sprouts Farmers Market location is now Movement rock climbing gym.
Wing So Good will join other Asian fried chicken restaurants in and near Mountain View including Bonchon on Castro Street and bb.q Chicken in Sunnyvale.
While it’s not clear when La Salsa Mountain View permanently closed, the franchise had been around since at least 2005, according to the first Yelp review for the restaurant. The fast-casual chain was established in 1979 in West Los Angeles and has one Peninsula location remaining in San Bruno.
