Seniors will now have an established voice in city government with the creation of the Senior Advisory Committee, a spin-off of the Senior Advisory Task Force, and prospective members have a few weeks to apply for a seat.

Before voting in favor of the committee’s establishment on June 23, City Council members said they were pleased with the task force, now disbanded, which had released several reports on the state of seniors in Mountain View. The new, five-member committee will advise the City Council on a broad range of senior issues in Mountain View, including programs at the Senior Center.

Those wishing to become a member have until Aug. 14 to apply. For more information, call the Senior Center at (650) 903-6330 or visit www.mountainview.gov and click on “all announcements.”
